From day one, our mission has been

to create a herd with only top of the line Gelbvieh breeding.

According to the United States Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC)

Gelbvieh cattle excel in:

calving ease,

weaning growth,

yearling growth,

milk yield, and retail yield.

This breed surpasses its competition when it comes to

heat tolerance and having excellent maternal qualities,

including, fertility and milk. Other popular breeds

such as, Angus, and Red Angus fall short in comparison to

Gelbvieh’s pounds of weaned calf per cow....

...Twenty-five years have now passed and we are constantly

shaping a herd that upholds these merits.

Add Value with Crossbreeding

Cattlemen across the country are using Gelbvieh bulls and crossing them with Angus or

Red Angus cows. Benefits of crossbreeding are explained by Dr. Larry Cundif from the

USMARC when he states, "Crossbred females are 30 percent more productive over

their lifetimes." USMARC data suggests that cows who are crossbred have the ability to

reduce breakeven production costs by approximately 10% and have greater longevity

by roughly two years. USMARC also states that, “Lean tissue growth rates were

significantly greater for Simmental, Charolais, and Gelbvieh top crosses than for

Hereford, Angus, and Red Angus top crosses.” In the American Gelbvieh Association’s

news letter “Add Pounds, Add Profit” they claim that cross breeding will add value and

can be done with the use of Gelbvieh balancer bulls after just one cross.

Benefits of crossbreeding from the American Gelbvieh Association:

Cow efficiency +8%

Cow longevity + 38%

Cow lifetime productivity +25%

Calf weaning weights +5%

Calf yearling weights +4
